Branding

CC: The legendary ‘Logotypes of the World’ Yasaburo Kuwayama

Overview

Whenever I take on a Branding job I always start with the same questions. I try and get the client to describe the essence of their company in a few words. I try and understand the motivation and vision and then start to explore competitive analysis and research. I keep things on paper as long as I can. Once the client narrows down the sketches I take them on the computer.

The Problem

How to communicate the most by using the least amount.

The Solution

Keep it in the notebook as long as you can until you have some well worked out ideas.

Putting it all together

After sketches a few designs get brought into the computer. These are the final mocks sent to the client for approval. We’ve identified a custom font, a color palette and rules around how the logo should be used.
