Case Study: Creative Direction

Creative Direction - Opolis Optics Branding

Sustainable luxury sunglasses made from recycled ocean plastic

Overview

Opolis Optics are committed to using recyclable and plant based material to build premium eyewear. Their goal is to contribute to the global effort of reducing plastic polluters while supporting affected communities through a product people can be excited about. The brand needed a strategic design partnership to elevate their current styles into a tone & voice that reflected their messaging.

Role & Duration

Creative Director

Established brand tone & voice, created brand guidelines, sourced illustrator, photographer, art directed video and still shots. Designed website, packaging, and physical product specs.

Micro-animations

I worked on a few subtle animations to play pre and/or post social assets.

Custom Illustrations
We found an environmental illustrator out of Portugal big into surfing who really embodied the brand. We engaged her for several campaigns to help convey our bio-degradable and recycled ocean plastic offerings.

Directives for Illustration tone

We needed the illustrations to feel cohesive and the messaging to support various socials. We also wanted to repurpose the illustrations so the goal was to keep things simple with theming.

Photography with a fresh take

We hired an unbelievable photographer to elevate our product and set us apart from the competition. He put together images showcasing the luxury of our product but embedded and connected to nature.
