The Problem

End users want something that cannot be woven or what they’ve referenced is a different material or texture. We try and find ways to mimic texture through unique weaving styles and constructions. Clients approve artwork but that same artwork needs to be redrawn for the mill to avoid issues.

SALESFORCE OHANA FLOOR

Working with a high end Interior Company here in San Francisco, I’ve been fortunate to have designed the carpets on the Ohana Floor for the Salesforce tower in San Francisco, New York, London, and Atlanta.

The Solution

Over the years I’ve learned how to prepare unique mill-art as well as beautiful client work. I know how construction works and how to achieve certain looks that resonate with clients. Having a good relationship with the mill and being able to understand the nuances of what goes into carpet weaving takes time and lots of trial and error.

The work that goes into reproducing an antique French Aubusson style rug. In this case it was fairly simple given the images gave me enough to go off.

The Iolani Palace

This project was a re-creation of the Kings Room at the Iolani Palace in Hawaii. We reinterpreted this late 18th century traditional Savonnerie weave into a Tibetan stitch, both are done over a rod so we were able to make slight adjustments in the knotting (100 to 120) and the fiber (Tibetan Wool to New Zealand) for a more authentic feel and finish
