Nurse Experience

This is an example of a description, hoping it shows up where it should.

Float Health - Nurse Experience

Overview

Float Health “Sidegigs for Superheroes” pairs speciality nurses to patients requiring long term care. They received $10m in Series A funding in July of ‘23.

I joined Float in May ‘23 to execute on key deliverables to help secure funding and to overhaul their application so it could scale.

The company had no design representation prior to joining. They also had some challenging tech-constraints like no color and no libraries.

Role & Duration

Head of Design (Consultant)

Leading project, processes, and auto-layout/variants

Team of 1 PM / 4 Engineers initially, followed by 2 PMs and 6 Engineers (New team)

May 2023 - Current

Problem Statement

The messaging and overall experience that nurses see around potential visits needed a big overhaul in order for the company to gain more adoption and scale properly. There were a lot of gaps and lack of functionality available. Due to HIPPA compliance we needed our nurses to have a logged-in UX in order to view sensitive data.

In the legacy state, nurses receive a text letting them know visits are available…Upon clicking the link they are directed to a standalone page where they can view high level details about the visit and enter their availability.

Solution

Example for a new Nurse experience. Highlighting action needed (IE awaiting confirmation) - ability to see zip-code map preview. The structure is simplified with better organization, allowing nurses to see open visits, pending, and their own upcoming visits.

Constraints

Big overhaul, new UI framework = Lot of scope. In order to meet deadlines we had to be pragmatic on what went into the first phase of this project. Redesigning the profile section to include new features like skills & experience, payment information, and ability to manage notifications needed to be tabled.

Considerations

Example shows the updated dashboard for mobile and ipad view. Nurses are often taking visits, or out on the move, ipad usage is high so we wanted to make sure it scaled appropriately.

Unification

Bringing parity to new marketing site - In addition to product work, I also designed the new Float marketing site. The goal was to unify the new design direction. Working through the smallest details, aligning on branding colors, tone of illustrations, animations, etc.

Lot of research and different explorations when exploring the new brand direction. Ultimately founders wanted to keep close to existing schema as a full brand refresh was not in the cards. I cleaned up the logo, redrawing on-grid, updating some headline fonts, colors to tailwind logic and set up for front-end to take and run with.
